This house is designed from the ground up as a sustainable building. This naturally means, first and foremost, that it is designed as a passive house. The concept for energy, hot water, and heating is groundbreaking. A large modern stratified storage tank with water in the utility room forms the heart of the system. Hot water is freshly generated here via a heat exchanger in the tank. Heating is provided by an efficient air-to-water heat pump that can also draw its electricity from the photovoltaic system; a battery storage system further optimizes self-sufficiency. The special feature of this system; however; is the beautiful wood-burning stove in the living room: it is water-bearing and capable of supplying the entire house with hot water and heat even without this heat pump.
