Through decades of effort by the current residents, the estate has been almost fully restored. The entire property, along with the now demolished brewery in the back, was owned by farmer, brewer, mayor, and senator Josephus Verheyden. In 1905, he transformed part of the stables into the current residence.

Since 1999, the owners have been working to preserve the authenticity of the entire property. Plans to operate a B&B were not carried out due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
