La Herradura is a small, sheltered bay on the Costa Tropical of Granada province, distinct from the more developed resorts to the east and west. The bay’s near-circular shape creates calm, clear water that has made it a long-standing base for diving and sailing. The surrounding hillsides, part of the Sierra de Almijara, drop sharply to the coast, limiting development and preserving the area’s relatively low-density character. The marina at Marina del Este sits at the eastern headland, adding a nautical dimension to the residential offer.

Day to day, La Herradura has a working seafront with fish restaurants along the paseo, including El Chaleco and La Última Ola. Almunecar town, with its covered market and broader retail, is roughly five kilometres east. The marina at Marina del Este provides mooring, a dive centre, and a small restaurant directly on the water.

Almunecar is connected to the A-7 coastal motorway, placing Malaga city approximately 80 kilometres west, around one hour by car.
