Málaga’s Centro is the historic and cultural core of one of Spain’s oldest continuously inhabited cities, shaped by Phoenician, Roman, Moorish, and Christian layers that remain visible in its streets and buildings. The Alameda Principal, the city’s grand 19th-century boulevard, anchors the southern edge of the centre, connecting the port to the old town. This is a quarter where the Alcazaba, the Picasso Museum, and the Cathedral are all within a short walk, giving the area genuine architectural and cultural weight.

Daily life in Centro means access to El Corte Inglés on Avenida de Andalucía, the Mercado Central de Atarazanas on Calle Atarazanas, and a dense concentration of restaurants including El Pimpi on Calle Granada and Café de Paris on Calle Vélez Málaga. The Muelle Uno waterfront is a ten-minute walk.

Málaga María Zambrano station, a ten-minute walk from the centre, connects to Madrid by high-speed AVE in under two and a half hours and to Seville in approximately two hours. The Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport is 12 kilometres southwest, reachable in around 20 minutes by taxi or via the C1 Cercanías train line from the city centre in approximately eight minutes. The port offers seasonal ferry connections to Melilla and the Canary Islands.
