The Centro of Málaga is the historic core of one of Andalusia’s most consequential cities, a dense and layered quarter where Roman foundations, Moorish fortifications, and 19th-century bourgeois architecture occupy the same few streets. Málaga María Zambrano station connects to Madrid by high-speed AVE rail in under two and a half hours and to Barcelona in approximately five and a half hours. The station is roughly two kilometers from Plaza de la Merced, accessible by taxi in under ten minutes. Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport is approximately eight kilometers southwest of the city center, with direct flights to over 100 international destinations and a journey time of around 20 minutes by taxi or metro.
