Mahón, the capital of Menorca, occupies a commanding position above one of the largest natural harbours in the Mediterranean, a deep-water port that has shaped the city’s character across centuries of British, French, and Spanish rule. The historic centre retains its Georgian-inflected architecture, wide-windowed facades, and sash windows, a legacy of British occupation that distinguishes Mahón from every other Spanish city. Menorca Airport is approximately five kilometres from the city centre, a ten-minute drive, with direct flights to major European hubs including London, Barcelona, Madrid, and Frankfurt. Barcelona is reachable by overnight ferry from the port of Mahón, a journey of roughly eight hours. The island’s compact size means no location is more than forty minutes from the airport by road, making Mahón a practical base for international buyers.
