Over the years, this space had the privilege of hosting iconic businesses that left their mark on the history of the region.
In the mid-19th century, it was Casa Fritz that thrived here, becoming one of the city’s most famous photography studios. Under the ownership of Madame Fritz and Joachim Friedrich Martin Fritz, Casa Fritz immortalized portraits of prominent figures of the time.
The history of this place also traces back to the firm VIDAL & FONSECA, founded by A. Vidal and João Fonseca, who proudly held the title of ’Photographers of the Royal House.’ They had the honor of capturing images of royalty, serving as a living testament to the significance of this establishment.
As the years went by, this space underwent other transformations and, more recently, housed one of the most important hat shops, being one of the last to exist in the region.
