Roquebrune-sur-Argens occupies a distinctive position in the Var department, where the red porphyry massif of the Maures meets the coastal plain stretching toward the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. The commune encompasses both an inland medieval village perched above the Argens river and the coastal sector of Les Issambres, a residential area of villas and pine forests facing the Esterel across the bay.
