Casa dos Loureiros, formerly known as the Solar dos Condes de Alpendurada, is very likely the largest and most magnificent private residence in Lamego.

Built at the end of the 18th century by the 2nd Count of Alpendurada, an illustrious figure, mayor and lord of vast vineyards, this manor house is a true piece of history, with its doors open to the magic of the Alto Douro wine region.

Its stately façade, with an immaculate stone coat of arms, suggests that time has passed carefully here; indeed, it is one of the last examples of noble houses in this region that has survived to this day preserving its original essence and design, without succumbing to alterations.

With an impressive 1848 m² of built area, the interior is an invitation to the imagination. The natural light of the Douro bathes the high ceilings and underlines the spaciousness of the rooms. In total, there are 29 charming rooms, including 15 bedrooms, 6 living rooms, 4 bathrooms, a cozy private chapel, the old traditional kitchen and, as one would expect in this region, a wine cellar worthy of great vintages.

But its beauty doesn’t end inside. Outside, there’s a private oasis with 2,200 m² of romantic gardens, where lakes and fountains are hidden among camellias and boxwoods. Silence and absolute privacy are guarded by imposing cedars over 300 years old, in a green space that also contains a large house, the former caretaker’s residence, ready to gain a new life.
