Built about 1830 by Nicholas Loisel (1781-1856), Loisel House is an architecturally and culturally significant Creole House on the banks of Bayou Teche. Completely updated in 2019, it offers the history of rural Louisiana along with all the creature comforts of modern life and plentiful storage. It has it all! Loisel is still in its 19th century setting with sugar cane fields visible all around. While no longer under operation, the commanding tall smokestack from the original sugar mill stands in the distance on the adjacent landowner’s property, part of the borrowed scenery.
