Designed by celebrated desert modernist William F. Cody, this approximately 5,500-square-foot Indian Wells residence offers a rare combination of architectural provenance, documented history and vibrant desert living. Originally conceived in 1963 as a Spanish Ranch home for developer Filmore Crank and actress Beverly Garland, the residence was completed in 1964 for Paula Vickers Petrie and Jack Petrie in the original Desert Bel Air Estates. The home has since been thoughtfully reimagined through a midcentury-modern lens while preserving important elements of Cody’s original design. Layered ceiling beams, an original interior planter, a restored bar and expansive indoor-outdoor gathering spaces are complemented by an updated kitchen, an oversized entertaining island and a redesigned primary bath featuring an open wet room and private outdoor bathtub beneath a Cody-inspired pergola.
