Inca is Mallorca’s third-largest city and the commercial and cultural capital of the island’s interior, sitting at the heart of the Raiguer region on the central plain. Known historically as the island’s leather-working centre, it retains a distinctly local, working character that sets it apart from the coastal resort towns. The old quarter around the church of Santa Maria la Major and the weekly Thursday market, the Dijous Bo, give the city a grounded Mallorcan identity rarely found closer to the coast.

The Thursday market, one of the largest in the Balearics, draws buyers from across the island. Inca’s Carrer de la Lluna and surrounding streets hold traditional leather goods shops, local restaurants serving celler-style Mallorcan cuisine, and neighbourhood cafes. Palma is 28 kilometres to the southwest, reachable in under 30 minutes by car or train.

Inca sits on the Palma to Sa Pobla railway line, with regular services reaching Palma’s Intermodal station in approximately 35 minutes. Palma de Mallorca Airport is around 30 kilometres away, roughly 30 minutes by car via the Ma-13 motorway. The airport operates year-round international routes to major European cities, with significantly expanded connections during the summer season.
