Grasse Prächtiges Mas Provencal

Grasse occupies a hillside position in the Alpes-Maritimes, roughly 900 metres above sea level, looking south toward the Mediterranean. It is internationally recognised as the historic centre of the French perfume industry, a status formalised in 2018 when its savoir-faire in perfume was inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list. The old town retains its medieval street pattern, with ochre facades, covered passages, and Baroque churches that give the city a density and authenticity rare on the Côte d’Azur.

Daily life in Grasse centres on the Place aux Aires market, held three mornings a week, and the covered Marché Provençal. The old town has a concentration of independent restaurants and cafés along Rue Marcel Journet. The International Perfumery Museum is a five-minute walk from the centre. Mougins, Valbonne, and Antibes are each within fifteen minutes by car.

Grasse sits approximately 25 kilometres northwest of Cannes, reachable in around 30 minutes by car via the D6185, or by the regional train line with a journey time of roughly 35 minutes. Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport is approximately 40 kilometres to the east, typically 45 to 55 minutes by car depending on traffic. The A8 motorway, accessible near Cannes or Antibes, connects directly to Monaco, Marseille, and the broader European road network.
