Fréjus occupies a distinctive position on the Var coast, where the Massif de l’Esterel meets the Mediterranean. Founded as Forum Julii by Julius Caesar, it retains one of the most complete collections of Roman monuments in France, including an amphitheatre, aqueduct, and thermal baths that remain part of the urban fabric. Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport, the primary international hub for the region, is approximately 60 kilometres east, reachable in under an hour by car outside peak traffic.
