YOUR PLACE IN NORWAY’S MOUNTAINS

As changing snow conditions make ski holidays harder to plan, Norway’s long, cold winters give ski enthusiasts a reason to look north-to destinations such as Kvitfjell, where world-class pistes and room to enjoy every turn make the skiing worth returning for.

At Svartskard, LHM - a developer of premium mountain homes and apartments, brings that experience directly to your doorstep. Collect your equipment from the dedicated ski storage room and head straight onto the slopes.

KVITFJELL, WORLD CUP SKIING, SPACE TO ENJOY IT

North of Lillehammer in Norway’s Gudbrandsdalen valley, Kvitfjell hosted downhill and super-G events at the 1994 Winter Olympics and remains a regular venue for FIS Alpine Ski World Cup races.

Across three mountainsides, the resort offers 34 kilometres of alpine slopes, 31 pistes and 14 lifts. Beginners have gentle green runs and dedicated children’s areas, intermediate skiers can explore blue and red slopes, and experienced skiers can test themselves on the black Olympic courses. Long, carefully groomed runs and a quieter mountain atmosphere make Kvitfjell a destination for those who put skiing first.

A red piste runs immediately beside Svartskard, providing ski-in/ski-out access without a drive or shuttle. The surrounding region also offers approximately 600 kilometres of cross-country trails through woodland and open mountain terrain.

A SUNNY TERRACE FOR A BREAK BETWEEN RUNS

Apartment A11 sits approximately 870 metres above sea level on Kvitfjell’s western mountainside. Its elevated position combines open mountain views with favourable sun exposure, while the south-facing terrace sits immediately beside the piste.

Having your own home along the ski route makes a break easy: stop for a cup of tea, lunch with family or a few minutes in the sun before heading out again. In warmer months, the terrace becomes a place for outdoor meals and quiet afternoons overlooking the landscape.

CONTEMPORARY INTERIORS AND BESPOKE DETAILS

The approximately 95 m² apartment has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, including a master ensuite. South- and west-facing windows bring daylight into the open-plan kitchen, dining and living area, which opens onto the terrace.

The kitchen by LHM Interior combines grey oak veneer cabinetry, Dekton work surfaces, integrated Miele appliances and a Temptech wine cooler. Integrated lighting and bar-style seating make the space practical for cooking and spending time together.

Bathrooms feature bespoke cabinetry, large matte-finished tiles and rainfall showers. Oak floors, a bioethanol fireplace and water-borne underfloor heating supplied by a geothermal system provide comfort after a day outdoors.

One underground parking space is included, together with dedicated facilities for storing and preparing ski equipment.

SVARTSKARD - A MOUNTAINSIDE DEVELOPMENT BY LHM

Svartskard comprises 16 individually designed apartments beside Kvitfjell’s slopes. LHM has brought its experience in premium mountain homes to the development, combining bespoke interiors with practical facilities for regular mountain stays.

Each apartment has its own layout and interior design, with kitchens and bathroom furniture made by LHM Interior. Materials, storage and lighting are planned together to make effective use of the space.

A shared ski preparation room allows owners to maintain equipment before heading out. Each apartment has two lockable ski lockers with capacity for up to eight pairs of skis and drying facilities for eight pairs of boots. A private storage room in the garage facility provides additional space for belongings.

With the nearest lift approximately 50 metres away, Svartskard keeps the skiing close while giving owners a private place to return to.

GETTING TO KVITFJELL

Oslo Gardermoen Airport is the main international gateway. Allow approximately 2–2.5 hours by car to Kvitfjell, depending on the final destination within the resort, traffic and weather. Much of the journey follows the E6 north through the Gudbrandsdalen valley.

Selected train services connect the airport with Kvitfjell station, with journeys from approximately two hours and 15 minutes. A taxi or arranged transfer completes the journey to Svartskard.

BUYING IN NORWAY

Foreign citizens can purchase property in Norway without being residents. The appointed estate agent guides buyers through the property documents, offer, contract, settlement and ownership registration, including a Norwegian D-number where required.

Before making an offer, buyers can review the apartment’s ownership conditions, purchase costs and shared running expenses. The agent can also confirm the furnishing package and handover arrangements.
