Estepona occupies a stretch of the western Costa del Sol between Marbella and Gibraltar, and has built a reputation as one of the coast’s most liveable towns. Unlike its more commercialised neighbours, it has retained a functioning old town of whitewashed streets, flower-lined plazas, and an active fishing port. The surrounding landscape combines the Sierra Bermeja mountains to the north with a long sandy coastline, giving the town a distinct physical identity that sets it apart from the broader resort strip.

The old town centres on Plaza de las Flores and Calle Real, with restaurants including El Gaviero and La Escollera covering traditional Andalusian and seafood menus. The weekly market runs on Saturdays. Puerto Deportivo de Estepona provides marina dining and leisure. Marbella is 30 kilometres east, reachable in under 30 minutes by car.

Estepona sits directly on the A-7 coastal road and the AP-7 toll motorway, connecting it efficiently to Marbella in 25 minutes and Malaga in approximately one hour by car. Malaga Airport, the main international hub for the Costa del Sol, handles direct routes to most major European cities and is roughly 85 kilometres from Estepona. Gibraltar Airport, around 45 kilometres to the southwest, offers an additional option for UK connections.
