Estepona occupies a distinct position on the Costa del Sol, sitting between Marbella to the east and Gibraltar to the southwest, with the Sierra Bermeja mountains forming a dramatic backdrop. Unlike much of the coast, Estepona has preserved a functioning historic centre, with whitewashed streets, flower-lined plazas, and a working fishing port that give the town a character grounded in Andalusian tradition rather than resort development. Valle Romano, on the western edge of town, is one of its most established residential addresses.

The old town offers the Mercado de Abastos for daily shopping, and restaurants including La Escollera and El Gaviero along the port. Valle Romano Golf, an 18-hole course, is immediately accessible. Puerto Banus is a 20-minute drive east, and Marbella’s dining and retail are within 30 minutes.

Malaga Airport is approximately 85 kilometres from Estepona, reached in around one hour by car via the AP-7 or A-7. Gibraltar Airport lies roughly 45 kilometres to the southwest, offering an alternative gateway with direct connections to the UK. The AP-7 toll motorway provides fast access along the coast in both directions, and Marbella, Malaga city, and Sotogrande are all within comfortable driving range for daily or weekend use.
