Historisches Kloster In Ribatejo: Luxus, Tradition Und Aussicht, In Der Nähe Von Golegã

The convent, founded in 1519 by King Manuel I, was built on a site where there was already a votive hermitage to Saint Anthony. Originally located in a wilderness next to the Tagus River, it offered the friars an environment of isolation and tranquility. After the extinction of the religious orders in 1834, the convent became private property. It has undergone several changes over time, acquiring its current configuration in the 1970s, when it passed into the hands of the current owner’s family.

Located in Chamusca and very close to Golegã, the convent benefits from a strategic position, about 100km from the center of Lisbon and with easy access to regional points of interest and a unique natural environment.
The Tagus River remains a close presence, contributing to the serene atmosphere that surrounds the convent.

For the past five years, the convent has been explored as a hotel and artist residency. Today, it is used as a holiday home, but its versatility allows for multiple uses.

The main entrance to the property is located on the west side. On the ground floor, there is the entrance hall, a guest toilet, two dining rooms, a main room, kitchen and pantry, an old kitchen, a breakfast room and several accesses to the cloister. All spaces offer flexibility of use. From the cloister, it is possible to access the church.
On the upper floor, the private area includes seven bedrooms, three of them en suite, a pantry, a laundry room and access to the church choir. There is also an independent apartment with two bedrooms and a kitchen.

The exterior is equally impressive, with a large garden that includes a large and scenic swimming pool with seating area, a water fountain, an orchard and a guest house or servant’s house, with two bedrooms and parking for several cars.
The land has about 3 hectares and is all walled, ensuring security and privacy. On the west side, the breathtaking view of the Lezíria and the Tagus River extends to the horizon, creating a scenery of rare beauty.
