Cannes occupies a specific position on the Côte d’Azur that no other city on the coast quite replicates. It is a working city with genuine international standing, shaped by the film festival, the Palais des Congrès, and a year-round calendar of trade events that keep it active beyond the summer season. The Croisette remains one of the most recognisable seafront promenades in Europe, and the old quarter of Le Suquet, rising above the Vieux-Port, gives the city a historic core that predates its glamorous reputation.

Cannes station sits on the main coastal rail line, with TGV services connecting to Paris in around five and a half hours.
