Farmhouse in the Montesinho Natural Park – Bragança

The Quinta de S. João – “Casal das Casas Novas” – is situated within the Montesinho Natural Park. It has belonged to the same family for six generations and was once one of the most prestigious farmhouses in the region. It is situated near the village of Maças, in the parish of Parâmio, 25 km from Bragança, 100 km from Porto, with easy access to Spain (Zamora is 100 km away and Salamanca 170 km).

URBAN AREA
The urban part of the estate consists of a group of stone buildings which, in times past, formed a friary. It has a gross floor area of 1,006 m² – a substantial area of developable land within the Montesinho Natural Park, a rarity that represents a huge advantage for the development of a tourism project.

The buildings are, in general, in a poor state of repair, with the exception of the so-called Casa do Frade Maior, which is in a reasonable state of repair and comprises a living room, kitchen, bathroom, four bedrooms and a large wooden veranda overlooking the countryside.

RURAL AREA
The estate covers approximately 16 hectares surrounding the urban area. It features several chestnut groves, oak and Douglas fir forests, as well as pastures, making the farm suitable for livestock farming.

There are numerous watercourses running through the estate, enabling the cultivation of irrigated crops. The surrounding landscape is stunning, with footpaths offering walks of great beauty through the heart of the Natural Park. Here, wildlife is a constant presence, with iconic species such as the Iberian wolf, the red deer, the wildcat, the golden eagle and the black stork.

POTENTIAL
The growing interest in nature-related activities points to a clear potential for the farm to be transformed into a tourist attraction alongside its existing agricultural and livestock operations.
