The municipality rises into the Serranía de Ronda foothills, giving it a cooler, greener character than the coastal strip below. Its combination of low-density development, protected natural surroundings, and proximity to some of Andalusia’s most prestigious golf courses has made it consistently attractive to international buyers.

The village of Benahavís itself is known for its concentration of restaurants along a single main street, drawing diners from across the Costa del Sol. Marbella’s Puerto Banús marina and the commercial and dining infrastructure of San Pedro de Alcántara are both within a 15 to 20 minute drive. The area has no significant public transport, so a car is essential for daily life.

Málaga Airport (AGP) is approximately 60 kilometres from Benahavís, typically a 45 to 55 minute drive via the AP-7 toll motorway. The airport operates direct routes to most major European cities and several long-haul destinations. Gibraltar Airport is roughly 50 kilometres to the southwest, offering an alternative for certain UK routes. Marbella, the nearest major urban centre, is around 20 kilometres and 20 to 25 minutes by car.
