Sóller occupies a broad valley in the Serra de Tramuntana, the mountain range that runs along Mallorca’s northwest coast and carries UNESCO World Heritage status as a cultural landscape. The town has a distinct identity shaped by its relative isolation, its historic trade links with France, and its well-preserved Modernista architecture, most visibly in the facade of the parish church of Sant Bartomeu and the Banco de Sóller building, both designed by a disciple of Gaudí.
