Vallauris sits in the hills above the Côte d’Azur between Cannes and Antibes, a town with a distinct identity shaped by centuries of ceramics tradition and its deep association with Pablo Picasso, who worked here in the late 1940s and early 1950s. The Musée National Picasso La Guerre et la Paix occupies the medieval château at the town’s centre. The surrounding landscape is Mediterranean in character, with pine-covered hills, terracotta rooftops, and a pace that remains genuinely local despite proximity to the coast.
