Saint-Raphaël sits at the western edge of the Esterel massif on the Var coast, where the deep-red porphyry cliffs of the Corniche de l’Esterel meet the Mediterranean. The town has a distinct character that separates it from the more overtly glamorous resorts further east: it is a working coastal city with a genuine year-round population, a Belle Époque seafront, and direct access to one of the most dramatic stretches of protected coastline in southern France.

The old port and market hall on Place Victor Hugo anchor daily life. Restaurants along the Promenade René Coty, including Le Lamparo and La Voile d’Or, serve fresh catch from local boats. The covered market operates daily. Fréjus, with its Roman amphitheatre and arena, is five minutes by car. The Esterel coastal path is accessible directly from the waterfront.

Saint-Raphaël station sits on the main TGV-connected line, with direct services to Marseille in under an hour and Paris in approximately four hours and forty minutes. Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport is roughly 65 kilometres east, reachable in around 50 minutes by car outside peak season. The A8 motorway provides straightforward access to Cannes, Nice, and the Italian border.
