This 1957 Porsche 356A Speedster is chassis 83273, and it was acquired by the seller around 2005 and restored under current ownership between approximately 2012 and 2014 by Dink Farmer of Ukiah, California, a longtime 356 restorer and metalworker whose builds have been featured in Excellence magazine. The car is finished in Ivory, matching the 5704 code on its Reutter paint tag, over black leather. Power comes from a replacement Type 616/12 1600 Super flat-four sourced from a 356B coupe, paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Recent service included cleaning and re-jetting the carburetors, replacing the valve cover gaskets, servicing the wheel bearings, and changing the fluids. This Speedster shows approximately 600 miles since the restoration and is offered on consignment in Corte Madera, California, with a tool kit, a jack, a spare wheel, and a clean California title. A copy of the factory Kardex has been requested and will accompany the car.
The Reutter-built body was refinished in Ivory during the restoration, and the door jamb retains its Reutter Karosserie tag stamped 83273 along with a Kunstharzlack paint tag stamped 5704. Details include a chrome-framed removable windshield, a replacement black canvas soft top with a clear rear window, gold Speedster fender scripts, gold Porsche and 1600 scripts, a Reutter fender badge, bright side and rocker trim, a crested hood handle, horn grilles with integrated turn signals, a driver-side mirror, teardrop taillights, and a single-grille engine lid. The bumpers wear aluminum deco strips without overriders, and dual exhaust outlets exit below the rear bumper.
Chrome 15” steel wheels wear crested hubcaps. Braking is handled by four-wheel drums, and the wheel bearings were serviced in preparation for the sale.
The cabin features Speedster bucket seats trimmed in black leather along with grey carpeting and a body-color dash with a black padded top. An ivory-colored steering wheel with a crested horn button frames VDO instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6,000-rpm tachometer, and a combination gauge for oil temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 600 miles, which represents the distance driven since the restoration was completed. True mileage is unknown.
The replacement 1,582cc flat-four is stamped P700823 on the third piece and 616/12 on the case, and it was factory rated at 75 horsepower in 1600 Super specification. Induction is through twin Weber 40 IDF carburetors with aftermarket air filters, and the electrical system has been converted to 12 volts. The carburetors were recently cleaned and re-jetted, the valve cover gaskets were replaced, and the fluids were changed.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle.
