Painstakingly restored by an avid Pontiac collector, NOS date-code correct parts collected over many years were used throughout the restoration, with truly no expense was spared.
This particular Judge was built at the Arlington, Texas, assembly plant on May 5, 1969, and it was delivered new to Coloma Motor Sales of Coloma, Michigan. In addition to its matching-numbers 400/366 HP Ram Air III V-8 engine, this car is also equipped with its matching-numbers Muncie M20 wide-ratio 4-speed transmission, power steering and power front disc brakes, the custom sport steering wheel, a Rally gauge cluster, and Soft Ray windshield, as well as a hood tachometer, Hurst floor shifter and T-handle, Rally II wheels, dual exhaust, and the seldom seen Power Flow Ventilation. This car is also accompanied by PHS documentation.
Though the original intent for the GTO Judge was to be marketed as an entry-level performance car to compete with the Plymouth Road Runner, Pontiac General Manager John Z. DeLorean rejected the budget angle and instead focused the Judge as a top-level performance version of the GTO. DeLorean even managed to tie in the popular ”Here Comes the Judge” skit on the popular variety show ”Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-in,” as part of the car’s persona. With its original drivetrain, PHS documentation, spectacular restoration quality, and a rare color combination with matching graphics, this 1969 GTO Judge is an excellent example of what the muscle car era was all about in 1969, and it would be a stellar addition to a well-thought-out muscle car collection.
