Your first encounter with this Mustang is a bit like coming across a dog owner with a fighting dog whilst out for a walk in the park. Despite assurances that “he’s completely harmless and just wants to play”, the tension refuses to ease. At the latest when you turn the ignition key, it becomes clear that the tension isn’t going to ease. The audible background noise is reminiscent of the rumble of an earthquake or a fighter jet taking off, and seems quite capable of bringing buildings crashing down. AMG drivers’ eyes widen, and quarrelsome neighbours definitely have nothing left to say in response. Apart from that, even without a prior phone call home, you know exactly when you’ll be leaving the office and arriving for dinner. The sheer force pulling at the rear wheels demands an experienced driver, for it’s no coincidence that the Ford bears the name Mustang – the horse known for swiftly throwing off poor riders.

According to this CARFAX report, there are no records in the USA of theft, scrapping or accidents. There is only one incident of damage recorded in Germany in July 2022: hail damage (an illustrated report is available). Annoying (at first glance) and pleasing at the same time, as the paintwork was previously rather ‘meh’ and is now perfect! Repaired in Germany by a master paint shop (most of the dents could be hammered out), the Mustang was stripped down and completely repainted at a cost of EUR 9,581.20. In 2023, all cables and electrical components were checked at the BOSCH service centre and, where necessary, replaced, removed or repaired: EUR 2,266.64. In May 2024, work began on the engine. Everything is new: camshaft kit, Edelbrock Performer Plus, pushrods, water pump, thermostat, oil seal, crankshaft, Edelbrock carburettor, etc.,... another four-figure sum. Servicing will be carried out before delivery, and an MOT can also be arranged on request.

The first-generation ’66 Mustang, recognisable by the Mustang emblem in the radiator grille, without the horizontal chrome bars and the chrome inserts on the dummy air vents on the rear wheel arches. Over the course of its life, this model was upgraded with a 302 Windsor V8 small-block engine with a displacement of 4,736 cc and 165 kW/225 hp. In the same year, the model was fitted with factory-fitted seat belts, a padded dashboard and hazard warning lights.
