PGA Catalunya, the number one golf resort in Spain (on the Costa Brava near Girona), continues to exceed expectations as one of the world’s leading real estate developments and as a fully serviced, low-density lifestyle hub.
Today, the resort leads the way in next-generation wellness architecture and property design: “Over the past year, the desire for wide open spaces, a higher quality in life and a better focus on our wellbeing and the wellbeing of those around us has become more important than ever before,” said David Plana, CEO PGA Catalunya.
In 2020, the resort unveiled two ground-breaking villa projects which have completely taken wellbeing to the next level.
The Well-Villa: where every element has been carefully considered to enhance holistic wellbeing
The Well-Villa project features a design that enriches the physical and mental wellbeing of its occupants; it fully addresses the way architecture affects our health and quality of life.
PGA Catalunya is the first resort in Europe to develop a project of this nature, working with world-renowned architects Fran Silvestre. One of the key innovations is the Espacious Evalore SLP’s WELL applied for the first time on this scale; it helps to build spaces that improve health and vital energy, with minimal impact on the planet.
The Well-Villa includes pioneering technology focused on seven key concepts: mind, air, water, nutrition, light, exercise, and comfort. For example, the villa features ventilation filters that prevent the entry of outside airborne particles including pollen and pollution; air quality monitors; advanced air purification systems; and antimicrobial surfaces around the home (i.e., on the kitchen countertops and in the bathrooms) and “Wake Time” lighting systems.
The first phase of construction included a detailed Geobiological Study to ensure there were no artificial radiations in the area surrounding the villa and to select an optimal enclave for the home which would avoid natural radiations such as underground water currents or points where the lines of the earth’s magnetic fields collide.
The Well-Villa is, therefore, a home with wellness integrated into every element, from the foundations to the paint finishes.
The L’Olivera 4 Villa: design that brings inside the outside
Another one of PGA Catalunya’s fantastic villas is L’Olivera 4, created to forge a connection between interior and exterior spaces. Expertly designed by RCR Arquitecte, this villa explores structural themes that support the nature of the architecture.
Located in the prestigious L’Olivera area of the resort, with stunning views across the fairways dotting and surrounding green grounds, the L’Olivera 4 Villa sets the new standard for landscape architecture placing humans and nature at the center of the design. The space blends into the landscape to create a truly holistic living experience.
The L’Olivera 4 Villa is not only a home, but also a piece of the landscape at PGA Catalunya, designed with the utmost simplicity, allowing for maximum flexibility and adaptability.
The design focuses on porticoes that face outward, towards the lake and golf course beyond, while opening onto the plot’s interior landscape. Arranged flexibly on the plot, the spaces create inner courtyards to help bring the outdoors inside, alongside a facade which reflects the richness of the surrounding outdoor landscape without becoming a distraction.
This wonderful example of landscape architecture forms a continual focal point of the lake: a meditative thread that runs through the L’Olivera.
The villa appears to be suspended in the air, with water flowing from the entrance to the swimming pool, creating a relaxing river that draws you into and through the home and shaping spaces that invite villa residents to connect with the beautiful, surrounding landscape.
