The Town of La Plata is located about 30 miles southeast of Washington, D. C.,
just east of U. S. Route 301 in Southern Maryland. It serves as the county seat
for the Charles County Government and, since its incorporation in 1888, has

Southern Maryland. Though primarily a residential community, La Plata is
