Beyond their architectural aspect, this structure holds a considerable volume of 142 m³ of inexhaustible spring water, continuously renewed—a precious and exceptional free water resource in Provence, especially in times of rationing. A large ornamental basin, completely independent, faces the old stables. Dating from the early 19th century with a romantic spirit, it is fed by another independent spring; beautiful Koi carp coexist there with a rich biodiversity. Finally, a last basin, located inside a troglodyte outbuilding, once fitted with a beautiful grille, could serve as a charming decorative feature in the only part not yet restored. We must particularly emphasize the interest and rarity in Provence of this unique ensemble of large-character basins, which adds to the castle’s charm.”
