Vélez de Benaudalla is a small Andalusian municipality in the Lecrín Valley, positioned where the valley opens toward the Costa Tropical of Granada province. The surrounding landscape is defined by terraced hillsides, subtropical cultivation, and the Sierra Nevada to the north. The area carries a distinctly agricultural identity, with avocado, mango, and citrus groves characteristic of this microclimate, one of the few in mainland Europe capable of sustaining tropical fruit production at commercial scale.

The coastal town of Motril, roughly 7 kilometres south, provides the main commercial infrastructure: supermarkets, medical facilities, and a weekly market. The city of Granada, with its full range of restaurants, cultural institutions, and the Alhambra, is approximately 65 kilometres north via the A-44 motorway.

The A-44 motorway connects directly to Granada in under an hour and to the coast in under 15 minutes. Granada Airport, located approximately 55 kilometres north, operates domestic routes and select European connections. Málaga Airport, the principal international hub for the region with extensive intercontinental and European routes, is approximately 90 kilometres west, roughly one hour by road via the A-7 coastal motorway.
