The villa itself is a timeless work of art built to endure. To the uninitiated, exposed concrete as an interior element might initially seem austere. The reality, however, is entirely different. Stepping inside reveals an immediate and profound sense of warmth, tranquility, and refined harmony. Every detail was meticulously conceived during the design phase and honed to perfection in execution. Behind every nuance lies a distinct story of intention.

The dialogue between raw grey concrete and wide-plank oak flooring creates a striking balance—the cool texture of stone paired seamlessly with the warmth of fine wood. Expansive glass surfaces flood the interior with natural light, creating dynamic interplays of light and shadow that define the living spaces.

From the living area, you step directly onto a secluded terrace patio sculpted to follow the natural contours of the bedrock. The surrounding granite landscape organically grounds the concrete structure. Stone steps lead down to the private shoreline and a solid crib pier, featuring sufficient depth to accommodate a sailboat.

Architecture & Provenance
villAma is a bespoke masterpiece created by internationally awarded SAFA architect Pekka Mäki (Sigge Architects) in close collaboration with the owner, representing modern minimalist architecture at its finest on a global scale.

The architectural expression draws inspiration from the celebrated Japanese master Tadao Ando, whose work embodies simplicity, spatial depth, and absolute precision. Ando’s philosophy is renowned for a restrained aesthetic that unites minimalist form, tactile concrete, and elements of Japanese Zen philosophy.

Celebrated as one of Finland’s most striking modern homes, the villa has been featured in The Wall Street Journal and numerous prestigious Finnish and international design publications. The building was awarded an Honorable Mention in Finland’s Concrete Structure of the Year 2013. It has also served as a setting for major film and television productions, including the feature film Vares – The Sheriff, the drama series Eden, reached the finals in the national television series Finland’s Most Beautiful Home, and hosted multiple high-profile commercial shoots.
