Modern Ocean Front Villa With Stunning Sunset Views

The owners of this gorgeous villa spent 7 years scouring beachside plots along the Sri Lankan coast, looking at some 200 locations before discovering this uniquely beautiful site looking West across a series of bays on the island’s Southern-most stretch.

It’s quickly obvious why they then stopped the search.

Happily distanced from the main coast road, the house sits at the Eastern edge of a small fishing bay, a little West of Tangalle. Its elevation provides stunning views over the ocean and the set of headlands that reach out and along back towards Galle.

The house is designed very clearly to make the most of those views; every space offering them through double height glass doors that open onto the pool terrace. The infinity pool itself runs almost the entire width of the living space of the property.

The main living spaces include a comfortable dining space, adjacent to the kitchen, and a large sitting room - again each with views out to the ocean.

Two principal bedrooms sit behind and at either side of that drawing room, each with large indoor/outdoor adjoining bathrooms.

A third ‘bedroom’ sits directly behind and opens onto the sitting room. Equally generous in size, and with is own bathroom also, it doubles as an office/study.

The land drops to the bay directly from the pool, a wild garden sloping away from the house.

The beach directly in front is not suitable for swimming but the gorgeous Silent Beach (of the Amanwella hotel) is a 10-minute walk, via the rocky headland or the smoother village road.
