About the Property
The way people choose destinations is changing. Increasingly, travellers are looking beyond traditional alpine resorts towards places defined by nature, authenticity and space, where spectacular landscapes are matched by a genuine sense of place rather than large-scale tourism. In many ways, this shift has placed Norway—and particularly the Sunnmøre region—in an increasingly favorable position.
Positioned between the Sunnmøre Alps and the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Geirangerfjord, Strandafjellet combines year-round mountain experiences with immediate access to one of Europe’s most spectacular natural landscapes. While still relatively undiscovered internationally, the wider region has attracted growing recognition in recent years. Condé Nast Traveller has described Sunnmøre as a possible ”next Alps”, while Forbes has referred to it as the ”Adventure Capital of the Fjords”—reflecting a destination that is steadily gaining international attention while remaining remarkably untouched by the scale of development found in many established alpine regions.
Over the past fifteen years, we have quietly assembled more than 200,000 sqm of strategically located development land through a series of acquisitions that would be difficult to replicate today. Rather than pursuing a single predefined project, our ambition has been to establish a long-term platform that evolves alongside the destination itself.
Beyond its scale, the portfolio offers something increasingly difficult to find: a strategic land position with the opportunity to influence the long-term evolution of a destination, rather than simply acquiring an isolated development site.
Today, the portfolio comprises several development opportunities at different stages of maturity. Some sites are fully prepared for near-term development, while others represent a longer-term vision. Collectively, they provide the flexibility to realise hotels, hospitality concepts, lodges, branded residences, private homes and complementary commercial uses, allowing future partners to shape a concept that reflects both market demand and their own strategic ambitions.
We have deliberately resisted the temptation to define every detail before inviting others into the process. While the planning framework is firmly in place, the architecture, positioning and overall guest experience remain intentionally open. We believe the strongest destinations are rarely created by rigid masterplans, but through collaboration between landowners, investors, operators and designers who share a long-term perspective.
Whether the next chapter is shaped by a hospitality operator, a family office, a strategic investor or an experienced developer matters less than a shared ambition to create something commercially enduring, architecturally distinctive and unmistakably Norwegian.
This is not simply an opportunity to acquire development land. It is an opportunity to help shape the next chapter of a destination that many believe is only beginning to realise its international potential.
