Located in the heart of the Cape Winelands near Stellenbosch, this exceptional architect-designed smallholding offers a rare combination of contemporary luxury, privacy and natural beauty. Set on 4.5 hectares of north-facing, wind-sheltered land, the property enjoys an idyllic position within the Stellenbosch Winelands, making it an ideal lifestyle estate for those seeking space, tranquility and refined modern living in one of South Africa’s most sought-after locations.

The residence is a sanctuary of light, calm and architectural purity, where minimalist contemporary design is seamlessly integrated with the surrounding landscape. Approximately one hectare of indigenous fynbos and around one hundred established olive trees frame the home, creating a natural setting that enhances privacy while offering uninterrupted views across the Cape Winelands. The generous landholding allows for the discreet addition of equestrian facilities, should a country lifestyle with horses be desired.

A striking fifteen-metre glass frontage with full-height sliding doors dissolves the boundary between interior and exterior, drawing natural light deep into the living spaces and creating a continuous connection with the outdoors. The interior aesthetic is refined and uncluttered, with concealed features and clean lines preserving a timeless minimalist character. Double-glazed windows throughout the home ensure exceptional thermal efficiency, acoustic comfort and year-round livability.

The layout offers a balance of intimate private spaces and expansive open-plan living areas. The main bedroom suite features luxurious en-suite facilities and serene views, while additional bedrooms each enjoy their own private bathrooms. The dining and lounge areas flow effortlessly onto outdoor terraces, designed for relaxed entertaining or quiet moments of reflection in nature. A solar-heated saltwater swimming pool and elegant outdoor living spaces further enhance the seamless indoor-outdoor lifestyle that defines this Stellenbosch smallholding.

Every element of the home reflects a commitment to sustainable, future-focused living. Water-based underfloor heating, smart home technology and energy-efficient systems ensure modern comfort without compromising environmental responsibility. This is more than a luxury home; it is a modernist retreat in the Cape Winelands where architecture, light and landscape exist in perfect harmony, offering timeless elegance, privacy and an exceptional lifestyle close to Stellenbosch.

Stellenbosch is located in the Western Cape Winelands region and surrounded by towering mountains and hills lined with vineyards. The oldest town in South Africa, Stellenbosch was founded in 1679 by Simon van der Stel. With its fertile soil, the Dutch East India Company intended to grow vegetables in the valley and supply the ships en route to the East Indies. The first farmers settled on the Eerste River in 1683, with the first colonialists from the Netherlands, Germany, France and Britain. It is the Cape Dutch architecture that has proved the most distinctive over the years. The early townspeople were encouraged to plant oak trees and the area became known as “Eikestad” or ‘town of oaks’. Stellenbosch has developed into a vibrant university town, with the growth a direct result of the University of Stellenbosch, renowned as one of the world’s top learning institutions. Today, there are more than 600 farms and 123 wine cellars in the area, producing some of the best wines in South Africa. The dramatically beautiful environment, street cafes, restaurants, mountain trails, plethora of outdoor pursuits (hiking, fishing, horse riding), wine estates and access to some of the Cape’s best beaches nearby makes Stellenbosch an idyllic place to live.
