Saint-Rémy-de-Provence occupies a particular position in the Provençal landscape, sitting at the northern foot of the Alpilles range with a character that is both deeply rooted and quietly cosmopolitan. The Wednesday and Saturday markets on Place de la République are among the best in the region. Restaurants of note include La Maison Jaune and Le Bistrot Découverte. The Roman site of Glanum and the monastery of Saint-Paul-de-Mausole are within a ten-minute walk of the centre. Avignon and Arles are each roughly thirty minutes by car.

Avignon TGV station, approximately 25 kilometres away, connects to Paris Gare de Lyon in around two hours and forty minutes by high-speed rail. Marseille Provence Airport is roughly 60 kilometres to the south, accessible in under an hour by car, with direct flights to major European hubs. The A7 motorway provides straightforward access to Lyon to the north and the Mediterranean coast to the south.
