Pollensa sits in the northern corner of Mallorca, framed by the Serra de Tramuntana mountains and the long sweep of Pollensa Bay. It is one of the island’s most consistently sought-after addresses, valued for its well-preserved historic core, the weekly Sunday market on the Plaça Major, and a cultural calendar that has drawn artists and writers since the early twentieth century. The town retains a distinctly local character that the more resort-oriented parts of the island have largely lost.
The old town offers Celler Ca’n Moixet and La Fonda for reliable Mallorcan cooking, with the Plaça Major providing daily café life. Port de Pollensa, roughly three kilometres away, gives direct access to the beach, sailing clubs, and a broader restaurant strip. Cala Sant Vicenç, known for its clear water, is a short drive north.
Palma de Mallorca is approximately 55 kilometres south, around 50 minutes by car via the Ma-13 motorway. Palma Airport handles direct flights to most major European cities year-round, with journey time from Pollensa of roughly 45 to 55 minutes by road. There is no rail connection to the north of the island, so a car is essential for day-to-day use. Alcúdia, the nearest larger town, is around 10 kilometres away.
