Selva is a small inland municipality in the foothills of the Serra de Tramuntana, the mountain range that runs along Mallorca’s northwestern spine and holds UNESCO World Heritage status as a Cultural Landscape. The village sits at roughly 200 metres above sea level, surrounded by terraced olive groves, carob trees, and dry-stone walls that have defined this landscape for centuries. It is one of the quieter, less-touristed corners of the island, where agricultural tradition and rural architecture remain largely intact.
The village of Selva has a parish church, a small weekly market, and basic provisions. Inca, the island’s main inland commercial centre, is approximately 8 kilometres away and offers supermarkets, restaurants, and the famous Thursday leather-goods market. Pollença and its weekly Sunday market are around 20 kilometres north. Palma is reachable in under 40 minutes by car.
Selva sits just off the Ma-13 motorway, giving straightforward road access to Palma in approximately 35 minutes. Inca has a train station on the Palma to Sa Pobla and Manacor lines, with regular services into Palma’s Estació Intermodal taking around 35 to 40 minutes. Palma de Mallorca Airport is roughly 45 kilometres from Selva and operates direct flights to most major European cities, with journey times from the airport to the village of approximately 40 minutes by car.
