Pollensa occupies the northeastern corner of Mallorca, where the Serra de Tramuntana foothills meet a broad agricultural plain before opening toward the Bay of Pollensa. The town itself is one of the most architecturally intact in the Balearics, built around a medieval core with a Roman bridge, a hilltop Calvary reached by a cypress-lined staircase of 365 steps, and a weekly Sunday market that has operated for centuries. It carries a long-established reputation as a cultural and artistic centre, attracting painters and writers since the early twentieth century.

Daily life in Pollensa centres on the Plaça Major, where Cafe Espanyol and La Fonda are reliable fixtures for coffee and lunch. The weekly Sunday market draws producers from across the north of the island. Port de Pollensa, roughly five kilometres away, offers waterfront dining at restaurants including Stay and Clivia, along with a calm, shallow bay suited to sailing and paddleboarding.

Palma de Mallorca is approximately 55 kilometres southwest, a drive of around 50 minutes via the Ma-13 motorway. Palma Son Sant Joan International Airport handles direct routes to most major European cities, with journey time from Pollensa of approximately 45 to 55 minutes by car. There is no rail connection to the north of the island, so a car is essential. Ferry services from Palma connect to Barcelona, Valencia, and Ibiza year-round.
