Sicilian Manor Farm In Siracusa, Sicily

The nineteenth-century Manor farm stands on the Anapo River banks close to the Ciane Nature Reserve, the two rivers mouth and overlooks the Syracuse natural harbor, just 2 kilometers from Ortigia island. The construction was restored in 2005, being careful to keep the late Sicilian charm combined with a contemporary style, considering comfort and design.

The property is made up of different buildings and is surrounded by a large Mediterranean garden, over 15,000 square meters. The oldest building, on two levels, was designed to accommodate rooms. The rooms are 10 doubles, each decorated in a different way, all enjoying a sense of privacy and peace; some of them overlooking the Anapo river, others with the panoramic Ortigia island port view.

The backyard building, closer to the river, is composed of the houses with the bar and the restaurant and the smaller buildings feature include a reception desk with reading room and the storage room, the bathrooms and the pool with the showers and services.

The building restoration project took place through the use of solutions designed to maintain the buildings constructive features, to keep the Manor as much as possible to the origins. The Mediterranean garden is structured according to the surrounding Anapo river area. The choice was to keep the spontaneous vegetation made of Sicilian canes and wild herbs on the side to the river.

The pool was built with white mosaic and iroko wood in the sunny area. The offshore pool design was made to resume the “gebbie” type, typical cisterns used in Sicily for the collection of useful water for the land irrigation. A large meadow and caravanning areas made of white gravel with different paths. The ancient daggers have become large Iroko paved verandas.
