Sineu occupies the geographic centre of Mallorca, a position that has defined its role as the island’s historic market town for centuries. The medieval core, anchored by the church of Santa Maria and the former royal palace of the Kings of Mallorca, retains a quiet authority that sets it apart from the coastal resort towns. Stone-built townhouses line narrow streets that have changed little in character, and the surrounding plain of Es Pla gives the town an open, agricultural identity distinct from the mountain villages to the north.

Wednesday market at Plaça de Sa Quartera is one of the oldest and largest on the island, drawing both locals and buyers from across Mallorca. The town has a small but reliable selection of cafes and restaurants around the central square. Palma is approximately 35 kilometres away, reachable in under 40 minutes by car.

Sineu sits at the junction of several main roads crossing the island’s interior, making it straightforward to reach Palma, Inca, and the east coast beaches within 30 to 45 minutes by car. Sineu also has a train station on the Palma to Manacor line, with regular services to Palma taking around 45 minutes. Palma de Mallorca Airport is approximately 40 kilometres away, roughly a 40-minute drive, with extensive year-round connections to mainland Europe and beyond.
