Santanyí sits in the southeast corner of Mallorca, distinct from the island’s more developed resort towns by its architectural coherence and unhurried pace. Daily life centres on Plaça Major and the Wednesday and Saturday markets. Cala Santanyí and Cala Llombards, two of the southeast coast’s most sheltered coves, are roughly four kilometres from the town centre. Palma de Mallorca is approximately 60 kilometres from Santanyí, a drive of around 50 minutes via the Ma-19. Journey time from Santanyí to the airport is roughly 45 to 55 minutes by car. There is no direct rail connection to the southeast of the island.
