Residential Santa Margalida Spain

Santa Margalida is a traditional Mallorcan market town in the northeast of the island, set inland from the Bay of Alcúdia and largely untouched by the mass tourism that defines much of the coastline. The town retains its agricultural character, with stone-built streets, a central parish church dedicated to Santa Margalida, and a pace of life that reflects the rhythms of the Mallorcan interior rather than the resort economy. It is a municipality that includes the coastal settlement of Can Picafort to the east.

The weekly market runs on Fridays in the town square. Can Picafort, roughly eight kilometres away, provides beach access along the Bay of Alcúdia. Alcúdia old town, with its Roman ruins and walled medieval centre, is approximately fifteen kilometres north. Port d’Alcúdia offers a broader range of restaurants and marina facilities within a twenty-minute drive.

Palma de Mallorca Airport is approximately fifty kilometres southwest, reachable in around forty-five minutes by car via the Ma-13 motorway. Palma city centre is a similar distance. The airport operates year-round international routes to major European cities, with significantly expanded connections during the summer season. There is no rail connection to Santa Margalida; private car or taxi remains the primary means of transport for residents.
