OASIS OF NATURE AND HISTORY ON LAKE GARDA Nestled in a natural setting of spectacular beauty and uniqueness, Malga Ortigara is located in the northeast area of the municipality of San Zeno di Montagna, on the western slope of Monte Baldo, facing Lake Garda, near the borders with the municipalities of Caprino Veronese and Ferrara di Monte Baldo. With its 271 hectares of land, Ortigara is the largest malga in Monte Baldo and all of Veneto. [ . . . ] ORTIGARA: THE LARGEST MALGA IN VENETO, BETWEEN NATURE, TRADITION, AND HISTORY The property, consisting of a single estate, is mostly occupied by woods, meadows, and pastures, and includes three distinct buildings. The baito is a structure with origins likely dating back many centuries, renovated and expanded over the years, consisting of a sturdy building covering approximately 200 square meters, with a square plan and a four-pitched tiled roof, divided internally into 5 large rooms, covered by wooden beam ceilings, with an average internal height of about 5 meters, which can be divided in height. On the south side of the baito stands the large semicylindrical tower, corresponding to the chimney used for cheese production: a typical structure that preserves inside the tools once used by the herders. Visitors who reach the meadows of Malga Ortigara, first traversing a road that crosses a wonderful centuries-old beech forest, are greeted by a spectacular and breathtaking view, in a dominant position, embracing the blue of Lake Garda, from Sirmione to Gargnano and the Tremosine plateau, with the backdrop of the Adamello-Presanella mountain group. The second building, located a short distance from the baito, is the chapel of Madonna della Neve, dating back to the 1600s, a small chapel of about 36 square meters, with a rectangular barrel-vaulted plan and a pitched roof. Attached to the church is a storage area, approximately 200 square meters, in a state of ruin, with a partially demolished pitched roof. Not far away, downhill from the baito, stands another rectangular building, also partly to be demolished and rebuilt, used as a barn for the summer shelter of livestock. The entire property is configured as a true natural paradise of high landscape and botanical interest. The uniqueness of the morphological, environmental, and historical characteristics of this property makes it particularly appealing for modern tourist-accommodation use, such as glamping. Its location in an area considered a top European destination for the number of annual visitors, that of Lake Garda, further enhances its attractiveness. This unique property is perfect for those who wish to experience an immersive experience in contact with nature, enjoying the various activities available in the surroundings: all within a context of Italian gastronomic excellence. This represents the new trend in luxury tourism, focused on outdoor experiences and the search for psychophysical balance in close contact with the natural environment.
