San Giuliano Terme House Villa

Built in the 16th century as a manor and rustic farmhouse for the field worker, the villa underwent an intervention towards the end of the 18th century which, by raising it by one floor and expanding its surface, managing to become the delightful country villa of a Pisan nobleman, attracted by the luxuriant environment and mild climate of Monte Pisano.

Walking along a small avenue with evergreen trees that flank a classic Italian garden dotted with tall cypresses, we are surprised by the chromatic effect that changes color according to the light and which is renewed with each season and within the same day. The presence of orange, myrtle, holm oak, horse chestnut and field maple plants with borders of Chinese wisteria, hawthorn, elderberry, May viburnum and yellow rose. Once we reach the entrance door on the ground floor, we are welcomed by the frescoed hall with neoclassical taste and fake columns connected to the nearby dining room decorated with scenarios of ruins surrounded by imaginative landscapes that leave our hearts breathless. Continuing the hall we find the opening towards the external courtyard, where a spacious wrought iron gazebo is ideal for breakfasts and lunches in the mild season and in hot summers, exposed and made cooler by the sea breezes.

The corridor on the ground floor connects the study and hallway and continues up to the stairwell to go up to the upper floor, where the frescoed rooms full of period prints present faithful views of the boats sailing towards the port of Livorno. On the mezzanine floor we find 2 large double bedrooms and going up to the first floor 2 suite and 2 superior rooms frescoed with original trompe d’oeil and embellished with curtains, with the most important deluxe room arranged with the bed set inside an alcove and hydromassage tub.

Located at the highest point of the villa, the attic stands out for its country-style space and the openings from which to enjoy the panorama of the suggestive nearby countryside, where the watchtowers recall the bloody battles between Lucca and Florence allied against Pisa.
