19th Century Architectural Gem With Hotel Development Project On The Costa Tropical

Salobrena is a whitewashed hilltop town on the Costa Tropical, the stretch of Granada province’s coastline sheltered by the Sierra Nevada from the north. The town rises dramatically above sugarcane fields and the Mediterranean, crowned by a Moorish castle that has defined its skyline for centuries. This is one of the few points on the Spanish Mediterranean coast where snow-capped mountains and sea are simultaneously visible, a geographical distinction that sets the Costa Tropical apart from the broader Andalusian coast.

Daily life centres on the old town’s narrow streets and the beaches of La Caleta and La Charca below. Motril, the commercial hub of the comarca, is ten minutes by car and provides supermarkets, hospitals, and administrative services. Granada city is approximately 70 kilometres north via the A-44, roughly one hour by car, providing access to the high-speed AVE rail network with services to Madrid in under three hours. Federico Garcia Lorca Granada Airport is around 55 kilometres from Salobrena, with direct flights to major European cities, and Malaga Airport, a larger international hub, is approximately 100 kilometres west along the coast road.
