Saint-Tropez occupies a singular position in the French Riviera, a peninsula town in the Var department whose reputation extends far beyond its modest size. What distinguishes it from other Côte d’Azur addresses is the coexistence of genuine Provençal character, the old fishing port, the Place des Lices with its plane trees and twice-weekly market, and an international social scene that has defined luxury leisure since the mid-twentieth century. The surrounding countryside, with its vineyards and cork oak forests, gives the area a depth that purely coastal resorts lack.

Daily life centres on the Marché de la Place des Lices on Tuesday and Saturday mornings, the port-side cafés along the Quai Jean Jaurès, and restaurants including Vague d’Or at the Résidence de la Pinède and Le Girelier on the waterfront. The beaches of Pampelonne, roughly four kilometres south, are divided into distinct concessions including Club 55 and Nikki Beach.

Saint-Tropez has no rail connection. The nearest train station is Les Arcs-Draguignan, approximately 45 kilometres away, with TGV services to Paris in around four hours. Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport is roughly 100 kilometres by road, typically 90 minutes to two hours depending on seasonal traffic. A helicopter transfer from Nice takes approximately 20 minutes and is the preferred option for most buyers during peak summer months.
