Saint-Tropez occupies a singular position in the French Riviera, a fishing village turned global reference point for luxury living that has retained its compact, walkable scale and its distinctly Provençal character. The old town, with its ochre and terracotta facades, the Vieux Port, and the citadel overlooking the bay, gives the town a physical coherence that larger Côte d’Azur destinations lack. Place des Lices, the central square shaded by plane trees, remains the social and geographic heart of daily life here.
The weekly market on Place des Lices runs Tuesday and Saturday mornings. Restaurants including Vague d’Or, La Pesquière, and Le Girelier define the dining scene at different price points. Pampelonne Beach is a ten-minute drive. Galleries, boutiques, and the Musée de l’Annonciade are all within a short walk of the village centre.
Saint-Tropez has no train station. The nearest rail connection is at Saint-Raphaël, approximately 35 kilometres away, with TGV services to Paris in roughly four hours. A seasonal ferry links the Vieux Port to Saint-Raphaël and Sainte-Maxime. Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport is around 100 kilometres by road, typically 90 minutes to two hours depending on summer traffic, and serves direct routes across Europe and beyond.
