Fréjus occupies a distinctive position on the Var coast, where the Massif de l’Estérel meets the Mediterranean. One of the oldest Roman settlements in Gaul, the city retains a layered historical fabric, from its Roman amphitheatre and aqueduct to its medieval episcopal complex, that gives it a depth rarely found in coastal towns of comparable size. The Saint-Aygulf quarter to the south offers direct access to a largely undeveloped shoreline, sheltered from the more commercialised stretches of the Côte d’Azur.

Daily life in Fréjus centres on the covered market on Place Formigé, open every morning, and a compact old town with independent restaurants and cafés. Saint-Aygulf has its own beach promenade, a handful of restaurants, and a small commercial centre. Saint-Raphaël, with a broader range of dining and retail, is five minutes by car.

Fréjus-Saint-Raphaël train station connects directly to Marseille in under two hours and to Nice in approximately one hour, with regular TGV services. Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport is roughly 60 kilometres east, around 50 minutes by car via the A8 autoroute. Toulon-Hyères Airport lies approximately 80 kilometres to the west, offering additional European connections.
