Lorgues is a medieval hilltop town in the Var department of Provence, set among vineyards, olive groves, and oak forests roughly midway between the Gorges du Verdon and the Côte d’Azur. The old town retains its original ramparts, a 12th-century collegiate church, and a central plane-tree-lined cours that functions as the social heart of the community. It is one of the more intact and least commercialised of the Provençal market towns at this scale.

The weekly Tuesday market on the cours is a genuine local institution. The town has a strong restaurant scene for its size, with Bruno, a long-established truffle-focused restaurant, drawing visitors from across the region. Lorgues sits within the Côtes de Provence wine appellation, and several domaines are accessible within a short drive.

Les Arcs-sur-Argens, the nearest TGV station, is approximately 15 kilometres away and connects to Marseille in under an hour and Paris in roughly four hours. Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport is around 80 kilometres east, typically a one-hour drive via the A8 motorway. Toulon-Hyères Airport offers a closer alternative at approximately 60 kilometres to the southwest.
